In July I updated my resume with my current job details and commenced my job hunt for a new position. By mid-September I had submitted 44 applications for jobs that I believe I would have a good chance of at least getting an interview.  My only responses were 22 emails saying that they were not proceeding with my application. I started to question my own resume and what I need to do to make it more appealing.

I remembered that Geoff had recently published an article on LinkedIn about his business ThinkBig Careers so I reached out to Geoff by submitting my resume seeking his advice on how it stacks up in today’s market. Within 48 hours I received back a detailed critique of my so called resume with an honest review and mark-ups to the changes I should make to improve its appeal to prospective employers. Over the next 4 days I created a totally new resume incorporating the recommend changes. On the 20th September I submitted a further 12 applications  with the new versions of my resume and within 48 hours I had received 3 firm offers for 1st interviews which all progressed to planned 2nd interviews,  one amazing role of which I accepted and was put in the difficult position of having to withdraw from the other two.

I can honestly say that whilst I did not avail myself of all the services offered by ThinkBig Careers, the resume service is outstanding and worth the money invested.

I was looking for a career transition and was constantly applying for new jobs without getting any replies or first interviews. When I did get an interview I would become very nervous and forget to speak about key examples of my work experience.

I contacted ThingBig Careers and Geoff reviewed my resume and practiced interview skills with me one-on-one. His advice was very practical and made me feel much more confident. He taught me a solid framework to answers questions in interviews which would communicate my achievements and worth. A week after I updated my resume with Geoff’s suggestions I got a first interview and then I got offered the job. Since then I have had a much better success rate both in getting interviews and getting offered jobs.

I can’t thank Geoff enough for his help - being more competitive in the workplace can really change your life!

I have known Geoff for many years and been the beneficiary of his professional encouragement and mentoring. I want to give him credit for where I am today due to his persistent encouragement and advice over many years.
Our first conversation was about 20 years ago when Geoff asked me why I don’t take on a leadership role?  My reply was “Not me, I’m not management material” and Geoff responded “how would know if you don’t give it a try?” This sat at the back of my mind, so when my children were a more independent and was encouraged by my peers, I complete a leadership course run by NSW Health `Effective Leadership in Health Program’ in 2017. This enabled me to work in many acting roles as educator, consultant and nurse manager. However when the time came to take the jump into a permeant role I was full of self-doubt what if I’m not good enough? What if I can’t do it? What if I fail? But the support from Geoff gave me the confidence to change that self-talk to “how will I know if don’t give it a try?”
Now I am 6 months into my dream job as the Quality & Risk Manager for the Child & Family Service in my Local Health District NSW Health and so glad I took a leap of faith. I have never been happier in my career and want to thank Geoff Martin for believing in me, and giving me the confidence to believe in myself. I can’t recommend Geoff enough to those needing career support as I want others to benefit like me from his calm coaching and wise advice.
